PAOLO PACCHIARINI

I was born in Milan in 1967. I have started fishing at the age of six and since 1985

I practice and enjoy fly fishing. Some years ago I have started organizing, with the sponsorship of Garue Company, lessons of fly casting and fly tying. I’m a member of IGFA (International Game Fishing Association) by which I have been awarded of 7 world records. I regularly publish articles in some Italian and foreign magazines specialized in fly fishing.

In May 2004, GEA Editors Group, published my first book on fishing black bass with artificial flies. The book is called "Black Bass, strategies and artificial flies". In july 2009 GEA Editors Group, published my second book "Pike, strategies and artificial flies".

I often take part in television shows of SKY cable TV in the channel dedicated to hunting and fishing. A lot of success had the episodes to which I took part of the series ‘Big Fish’.

My long experience has consolidated especially in fresh water in northern and central Italy, in particular in the waters of the Adda river, in the Valtellina area (Lombardy region), and in its tributaries, in the search of trouts and graylings.

I’m also fond of salt water fishing, especially in the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the Versilia area, in the region of Tuscany, in the search of European sea bass, tuna, dolphin fish and mackerel. Since the end of 1980s I have often been fishing in the waters of the big lakes of the Padana Plain where I enjoy finding new techniques and creating new artificial flies, adapting them for catching fish like carp, pike, perch, black bass and zander.

In order to practice this sport from the boat I obtained the official Italian boat license. My knowledge of the many fishing techniques and of the different fish species got wider and wider thanks to a number of fly fishing journeys all over Europe and to some of the most beautiful and wild areas of our planet, among which: Canada, Argentina, Australia, United States (Alaska, Massachusetts, Maine, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana), Cuba and Cayo Largo Island, Belize, Venezuela, Guatemala, Brazil, Costa Rica, Maldives, Mexico (Baja California and Yucatan) and Cayman Islands.
